Writing emails can be an intimidating challenge. You can come off as stiff, creepy, kind, or a homicidal maniac because you added the wrong smiley at the wrong time. If you do not wish to be looked at as a creepy person, there are a few points to remember.

Courtesy Goes a Long Way

Always be polite. Just because you’re writing online, that doesn’t excuse horrible behaviour or bad grammar. Writing like a proper young man might be a pain in the ass but at least she won’t think you’re a high school student. Don’t use the winking smiley, in fact don’t use any smileys. Slang is also not very good online, although it may be tempting from time to time, especially if you are on your phone. When you first mail her, ask her if she is interested in talking with you and be polite if she says no or does not respond; it may be nothing personal. If she is interested, read her profile so you know what to talk about, and don’t dabble into emotionally loaded topics like how crappy certain music or animals are. What attracts you? Write down those features and behaviors and play with the words so it’s not just a long list. Don’t tell her she’s hot or include any other general compliment, be unique and funny. If you say you like parts of her body that are not sexual, it’s memorable and it may boost her confidence.

Humor

Humor is important to stay lighthearted. Joke about things she’s interested in and do friendly flirting. Flirtatious jokes are always welcome unless you make it creepy or too sexual before you’ve had sex. Telling someone how good they would look without clothes is not a flirtatious joke but rather a mental violation. Being sexually explicit when you are chatting online is not flirting, but cyber sex, and it backfire. You need to go easy on the flirting and work into it since flirting is the first step to having a good relationship with her. Flirting is supposed to be light, fun, and friendly, so if you want to talk about the debt crisis in Europe, maybe consider another outlet such as friends or the debate team.

Keep it Super Light

Don’t get too deep about your life until you get to know her better further down the road or until she opens up to you first.
